God Bless America!
My wife, Camille,
and I "escaped" from nearly thirty years of living in the Metropolitan Atlanta
area (Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia) in the
Spring of 1998. We had lived there since 1972 and we just knew there was a
quiet, relaxing place somewhere else we needed to be. And Lake Oconee is
the place!!! Camille's
mother, Ramona...who lives in the San Francisco Bay area...calls us you
Southerners in the Wilderness! And we accept that...considering she was
born and reared in "LA", Lower Alabama.
Instead of screeching tires we have screeching owls. The hum of the pontoon boats and personal water craft has replaced the drone of jet planes in a landing pattern and the steady "woooshhhhhhhh" of Interstate 285...way back "there". Egrets, ospreys, sergeant birds, Canadian geese, mallard ducks, white tail deer and many other flora and fauna welcome us each morning as we watch what we call "Lake TV" from our enclosed deck.
After all of the hard work and strain of moving, we do not plan to move again... What we do plan is sitting on our screened porch and watching Sunset after beautiful Sunset!

What do we do?

Winter Park High School, Class of 1961...

celebrated its 45th Class Reunion in April 2007. It was the best attended reunion yetbecause we had followed through on the
suggestions for organizing and creating our own web site to locate and account for and locate all of our members. It has proven to be much more than we had ever expected. Go
see what the "Then and Now"..."Remember When?" and
"Where are They Now?" pages reveal about that wild and crazy
group.
One thing is certain, we were a good-looking, handsome and intellectual class...and still are! Among us were destined to be several who achieved Phds, scientists, researchers, writers, novelists, beach bums, Clergy, world travelers, foreign service agents...
