Cedar Valley Arts Festival

The Arts Festival was started in 1965 by Bob Darden, a Cedartown Georgia merchant, to expose the children of Polk County to culture and the arts. The first chairman of the Arts Festival was Dr. Richard Jewell and his wife, June. In 1977 the city of Cedartown asked the Cedartown Junior Service League to take on the Arts Festival as their own. It was renamed the Cedar Valley Arts Festival.

This year the Cedar Valley Arts Festival is getting back to its roots. Our vision this year is "Bringing Culture and the Arts to the Children of Polk County". The 44th Annual Cedar Valley Arts Festival will be held April 26 and 27, 2008 in Historic Peek Park in Cedartown. From this time forward, the Arts Festival will be held on the last full weekend in April.

Also this year, the fourth annual Cedar Valley Car Cruise is scheduled from 5 to 9pm in the Wendy's parking lot.

The Cedar Valley Arts Festival operating hours will be Saturday, April 26, from 10AM – 6PM and Sunday, April 27, from noon – 5PM. There will be arts and crafts, food, a market place, and children’s activities in Peek Park, downtown.

Five categories of exhibit space are available: 1) Handmade Arts & Crafts, 2) Children's Area, 3) Food/Concessions, 4) Market Place (prepackaged food items, plants, flowers, etc) and 5) Civic Groups.
